How to Apply Motorcycle Stickers Like a Pro (Even If It’s Your First Time)

So you just got your brand-new sticker set, nice choice! Whether you ordered one of our custom designs or a full-blown sticker kit, applying them properly makes all the difference. The good news? You don’t need to be a pro to get that smooth, clean, bubble-free finish.

Here’s our step-by-step guide to help you stick it like a boss.

🧰 What You’ll Need
  • Microfiber cloth

  • Mild soap or rubbing alcohol

  • Squeegee or plastic card (like an old bank card)

  • Masking tape (optional but helpful)

  • Heat gun or hairdryer (for curved areas / also optional)

  • Patience :)

🛠️ Step-by-Step Guide
1. Clean Your Surface (Properly)

Start with a clean bike. Wash off any dirt, grease, or wax. For best results, use rubbing alcohol on the area where the sticker will go. This helps the adhesive grip better and last longer.

Pro Tip: Avoid car shampoo with wax in it. Wax = slippery surface = sticker regret.

2. Dry Fit First – No Surprises Later

Before peeling anything, line up your stickers and place them roughly where you want them using masking tape. Step back. Look at angles. This saves you from “oops” moments.

3. Peel & Stick (Slow and Steady)

Peel the backing off carefully. Start from one side and lay it down gradually. Use your fingers or a card to press the sticker onto the surface as you go.

4. Use a Squeegee or Card

Smooth out the sticker as you apply it. Work from the center outwards to push out air bubbles. If you spot a bubble, gently lift the sticker and reapply it—or poke the bubble with a needle and press out the air.

5. Heat It Up (Optional But Effective)

If you're working with curves or textured surfaces, grab a hairdryer or heat gun. A bit of heat helps the vinyl mold to the shape of your bike and improves adhesion. Don’t overdo it—just warm it up slightly.

🙅 Common Mistakes to Avoid
  • Applying in cold weather (stickers hate it)

  • Skipping the cleaning step

  • Rushing the placement

  • Not giving the adhesive 24 hours to cure before riding or washing

🔧 Final Tips for a Killer Finish
  • Let the bike sit for 24 hours before riding or washing

  • Avoid rubbing against the side of the stickers when washing your bike

  • Store any leftover decals flat and cool
